Why brake fluid is a safety matter
Brake fluid is hygroscopic: it absorbs moisture from the air over time. That water lowers its boiling point. Under hard braking — a mountain pass, a long descent, an emergency — the fluid can actually boil: vapour bubbles form and the pedal sinks to the floor with barely any braking. It’s called vapour lock, and it happens exactly when you need the brakes most.
